What is the Song Tree?
A historic Morton Bay fig on the Geraldton foreshore has been officially named “The Song Tree” by members of Regional Sounds, transforming it into a creative and cultural landmark.
Planted around 1895, the tree is now an interactive destination where visitors can leave lyrics, songs and photos via its Google Maps pin—creating a living, global archive inspired by Regional Sounds recent Song Club workshops and suggestions by local buskers.
“The Song Tree is about connecting creativity to place,” a Regional Sounds spokesperson said, “and the online location acts as a archive for creative works inspired by this special place.”
Unveiled as part of the Geraldton Jambinu Tree Festival, the initiative aims to achieve recognition similar to the nearby 50 Cent Swing.
