Our Space

 

We are located at 246 Marine Terrace, right on the Geraldton Foreshore.

Built in 1879, our beautiful historic building has had many purposes, including the Original Railway Building, Library and Visitors Centre. It is also the location of the Iconic 50 cent swing, created in 1988 as a tribute to The Merry Go Round in The Sea, a novel written by famous local author Randolph Stow.

A State Heritage building, this venue became the home of Regional Sounds in January 2022, and has since then been created into a multi-purpose hub, with both outdoor and indoor areas perfect for a variety of sound-based activities and experiences for diverse groups of people.

With the support of the City of Greater Geraldton, Community Bank Geraldton, the Mid West Development Commission and Spacey Jane - Regional Sounds formally signed a lease in 2025 which has enabled new subleases within the venue. Petit Remi cafe opened on the foreshore deck in April 2026 and Mullermind Creative will soon formally use downstairs offices as their base for photography, videography and digital marketing services.

Regional Sounds utilises the venue for sound and music-based activities as a catalyst to bring more cohesion, vibrancy and connection to our community, while also creating opportunities for regionally-based musicians to be able to grow, collaborate and develop creatively while in the region.

Regional Sounds is an accessible public venue, our ground floor is accessible via a ramp and access to the upper level is via stairs or a lift. Our bathroom facilities are suitable for wheelchair users on both levels. Please let us know if you need accommodations to access our space.

  • We provide spaces and programs for musicians and music creatives to access, collaborate and share their work. Featuring opportunities to up-skill, rehearsal and performance spaces and quiet co-working rooms, our hub is a unique offering in the Mid West region.

    We use this venue to present youth and CALD music workshops, rehearsals and professional development for creative career musicians.

  • We love to support local music and also understand that for many, listening and enjoying the tunes is where it’s at. We offer live community music gigs and music-based activities that are family-friendly, offer diversity on the stage and support safe spaces for our community.

  • Our space is a place for our regional creatives to connect, collaborate, share and learn in the music industry. We offer muso mixers, creative hub jam sessions and industry networking events.
