Coral Coast Music: Nurturing a Love of Music Across the Mid West

Coral Coast Music, led by Director Alyce Sherman, was created to bring accessible and quality music education- and the wide range of benefits that it brings- to the midwest region. Recent studies have shown that the benefits of just two years of formal music training can make a colossal difference in any one persons life. With early engagement and consistent participation in a program with a suitably trained educator being key. 

Programs at Coral Coast Music aim to empower children and their families to incorporate music into their daily lives, through age-appropriate classes that ground participants in a range of skills including pitch, rhythm, reading, writing, memory, creativity, language, imagination, listening, structure, gross-motor skills, spontaneity, imagination and social & emotional capabilities.

In addition to early childhood programs, the school offers small group music classes, which utilise piano as the primary instrument. Providing a creative, exciting and inclusive environment, to set learners up for successful and sustained engagement with music education throughout their schooling years and beyond.

Reflecting on over 15 years of teaching, Alyce cites that early and regular exposure to quality musical experiences plays an integral role in a successful music education journey.
”One of the very first senses we develop is hearing. As infants, we learn by listening and then imitating. It doesn’t have to be complicated! The purpose behind what I do is to support community members of all ages to engage with music as part of their every day lives.” She said.

One parent shared, “The group classes are great for social interaction as students can have fun together and encourage each others learning. Alyce has created a very welcoming environment for the kids to learn, mine love coming every week!”
