Join musician and yoga teacher Holly Norman for a functional movement workshop incorporating yoga stretches and breathing exercises, specifically related to the performing drummer and percussionist.
This 50-minute session will address widespread occupational issues such as muscle tension, RSI and fatigue, providing you with an increased awareness of the key muscle groups that we need to engage in order to keep ourselves safe and at a level of optimal performance. We will also briefly touch on meditation and mindfulness, and the benefits of these techniques in reducing stress for the modern-day musician.
This class is suitable for all levels, and you won’t need any previous experience or special equipment. Just bring your mat, water bottle and wear something you can move comfortably in.
This workshop is FREE to attend, with generous support from the Mid West Development Commission ‘Strengthening Communities’ fund. To date, this investment has supported over 15 Mid West musical acts and enabled visits from ten professional musicians who have shared their stories, skills and creative career pathways with our members.
Regional Sounds is proud to be a welcoming space and truly accessible public building, if you need support in accessing this workshop, or need assistance with obtaining a yoga mat to be able to particpate, please let us know by emailing hello@regionalsounds.com.au
