Regional Sounds is dedicated to supporting a crankin' regional music scene and one way we do that is to create supportive stages for Mid West musicians to learn and share their talents.

The Youth Week 2026 Talent Search is an Open Mic event to be held at the Geraldton Youth Centre on 11 April 2026. By registering for the Open Mic, you're also committed to attending atleast one Stage Readiness workshop with our mentors. MORE INFO BELOW

Stage Ready

Tue 7 Apr 4:00-6:00pm

Daron Keogh will present on topics such as stage presence, set composition, intros and your creative career opportunities as well as provide technical assistance for musical equipment. Daron is a band member of Real Good Question and the chairperson of Regional Sounds.

Participants can also elect to have a one on one session with Daron.

Wed 8 Apr 11:00-1:00pm

Alyce Sherman will provide practical assistance for your set, including singing advice, technical assistance, working the mic and audience engagement. Alyce is the Director of Coral Coast Music.

Open Mic event

Registrants will be given a time slot for their performance between 4pm and 6pm on Sat 11 April.

Registrants must be prepared stage side to avoid losing their time slot.

Each registrant will be given a prize for their participation.

A 'Top Runner' will be chosen by a panel of observers who will consider stage presence and how confidently you perform and are able to engage the audience.

You do not have to be a musicians! Comedians, magicians, contortionists and puppteers are also encouraged be be a part of the program.

The Top Runner will receive a $150 gift card and forever fame as the inaugural Top Runner from the 2026 Youth Week Talent Search in Gero. (we're not making a joke of it - every star starts somewhere.)
